Tasty And Authentic Greek Cuisine

Greeks have set the pace for the world on numerous fronts including on the plate. Their food variety will make your breakfast, lunch and dinner tasty and memorable. Their drinks are outstanding, with options for both alcoholic and non-alcoholic serving. The taste of authentic Greek cuisine is exemplary and mainly composed of grains, meat, fish, bread and tasty vegetables, among others. The choice for desert includes nuts, herbs, honey, bread and pastry, among a very wide selection.

Appetizers and salads are served in their variety on an excellently beautiful plate. Mezedes is a common serving since it is easy to prepare and perfect for an impromptu guest. Other options include deep friend vegetables, fava, gavros and kalamata olives. The common Greek Salad is made of tomatoes that are finely shred and mixed with cucumber, cheese and red onion sprinkled with olive oil.

Vegetable soup is a common serving that is differentiated by the kind of seasoning done. Lentil soup is prepared by adding either olive oil or vinegar. Meat balls are also used to serve rice soup. A famous local soup known as Kakavia utilizes any local species of fish. The bones must be removed before preparing the soup. Rice and chicken soup is flavored using lemon to make it tastier.

Greek cuisine for vegetarians was also very healthy and nutritious. It also serves as a perfect meal for people who were fasting because it contains all nutrients required for optimal health. Common ingredients included potatoes, carrot dill, oven baked peas, onions and aromatic herbs. Greens also formed part of vegetarian light meals when boiled alongside beans and potatoes.

It is impossible to talk about Greek meals without including sea foods and meat. Beef, lobsters and lean pork were the most common serving. When meat formed part of soup, it was rolled into meat balls. Meat was also seasoned with pepper, lemon and herbs after grilling to make it tastier. The unique rabbit or hare soup was flavored using cinnamon and served alongside a glass of wine.

There are quick meals that require little time to prepare and whose ingredients are not very expensive. Macaroni is a common selection in this category alongside spaghetti and omelet. You may also opt for Hilopites which is savory chicken cut in the shape of a tile and spiced with tomato sauce.

Sweets and deserts formed part of any meal. Common desert included almond which was prepared using meat balls that were coated with sugar and rose water. Nuts also formed part of desert alongside Christmas cookies with powder sugar used as coating. You may also choose to have yogurt with honey and walnuts added.

After meals, you have an option of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. You may also opt for beverages like coffee and tea which may be served with snacks or without. The addition of fresh herbs like mint and chamomile makes your cup tastier. Beers and wines for Greeks are brewed to perfection using authentic ingredients. There is the option of local liquor that is sweetly flavored.
