Recommended Natural Dry Skin Treatment

By Jeffrey Murray

A dry, flaky skin is itchy and calls for quick relief. From science, it is not only what you place on it that matters. You will be surprised the air around, the cloths you wear and how you clean it determine how it moist it will be. Further, each person reacts to situations differently. This means that dry skin treatment for one person may differ from that of another. Here are a variety of options to consider.

Use warm water to shower instead of hot and steamy water. It feels god for your spirit but not the skin. The problem arises when hot water melts the natural oil barriers. These barriers are used for trapping water to keep the surface supple, soft and moist. Even when you have chosen warm water, you should not take more than five to ten minutes in the shower. This has a similar effect.

Use the healthy and recommended cleaning methods and products. Do not scrub with brutal force. Watch the creams and soaps used for showering. Additives like fragrances and antibacterial elements may damage more than heal. This is especially important for sensitive skins. Avoid toners, peels and astringents manufactured using alcohol because they will dry the skin.

Be careful with the shave. In the process of removing unwanted hair, you take off with skin oil. It is advisable that you shave after a shower because the hairs are pliable and soft. Shaving should be in the direction your hair grows. The razor used should also be sharp enough. Blunt blades cause irritation to the skin.

Take care of your body during the hot season. The hot and windy weather will leave the surface scaly and wrinkled. Ensure that you use sunscreens and cover all parts using light clothing. Covering is meant to prevent lose of moisture. There are lip balms for lips with sunscreens covering the other areas. A natural option is to use a long sleeved shirt. The eyes, neck and ears also need to be covered.

Follow the recommended rules of moisturizing. Some of the products recommended are petroleum based jellies. You may also use mineral oils, lotions and creams that will not cause damage. You may also consider glycerin, stearic acid, shea butter and ceramides, among others. They work by providing cover and replenish the moisture barrier that exists naturally. When using sunscreens, ensure that SPF rating is 30 and above.

Eat foods that are good for your face. Avoid chemicals and processed foods by all means. Papaya, pumpkins and olive oils are perfect for consumption. If you have to use scabs, go for the homemade variety that is devoid of preservatives. Honey provides incredible results and is also good for your body.

Dryness means that the body lacks enough liquid or water. This is part of the inside-out treatment available to the skin. Drink a lot of water and ensure that it does not evaporate by covering up. A body that is dehydrated will show through dryness. Take a lot of fruits and unprocessed foods to keep you healthy. Avoid stress and fatigue.
