There is a range of different styles of massage which are becoming increasingly popular. Thai massage is the oldest form of healing and it is thought to have roots in Buddha which dates back two thousand five hundred years. This style of massage was first practiced in Thailand by an Indian doctor as an Ancient Massage. This style of massage is believed to be an ancient style of massage therapy for the human body and it is good for transformation, healing and health.

Thai massage has been performed for centuries by monks in the south eastern part of Asia and it forms one part of indigenous Thai medicine. In oriental medicine illness is seen as an imbalance of the body, mind and spirit. This type of massage is based on the concept that there is invisible energy lines that run through the body.

The invisible energy lines in the body are commonly known as Prana Nadis. The energy is absorbed in the air which we breath and it is also consumed in the food which we eat. Any disturbance which is caused to the energy flow in the body will mean there is a lack of energy supplied to the invisible lines.

Thai massage works using ten different energy lines and the acupressure points that are on these lines. The massage therapy works on these lines and breaks through the blockage that have built up so that the energy can flow freely, which will restore the health and balance of the body.

Thai massage focuses on interactive manipulation and this uses two main procedures. The therapist will work by applying gentle pressure to the hand and foot so that energy travels to the invisible lines. They will also make use of a range of stretching movements so that the body is manipulated in to a range of postures.

These movements will help to align the energy within the body. The traditional form of Thai massage differs greatly from the traditional style of massage which involves kneading the muscles and using strokes of various lengths in order to calm and relax the body. The Thai style of massage works more on the energy within the body rather than the physical body and it makes use of gentle pressure and vigorous movements.

There are a number of advantages of Thai massage and the biggest advantage is the unique effect that it has on the energy within the body, as it relaxes the body. This art of massage it commonly known as Thai yoga and this is due to the assisted stretching.
