What are the Results of Aging on Skin

By Andrea Hamilton

One of the first visible signs of aging are facial wrinkles. Forehead wrinkles, crow's feet and laugh lines can start to manifest in your middle-to-late twenties if you don't take the proper measures to deal with your skin. Applying sunscreen, keeping hydrated, moisturising, exfoliating, eating a balanced diet, and avoiding smoking can help forestall the development of wrinkles.

Another effect of aging is lessened skin elasticity. The tight skin on your face will start drooping and drooping. The skin becomes droopy due to the results of gravity on your less firm skin. While this may make your face look skinnier, clinical reports indicates that older populations that are chubbier or overweight look younger than those who are skinny. Application of cream for wrinkles and anti-aging moisturizers can promote skin hydration and elasticity.

Dry and itchy skin are also caused by ageing. Due to reduction of oils, the skin becomes drier and itchier among older adults. It is recommended that those with dry skin, shower or bathe in lukewarm water as hot water can further dry out the skin.

The physical appearance of the skin is altered as it ages. Lesions, benign tumors and bruises become more and more common as we grow older. This happens because the skin has received exposure to toxic polluntants from the environment and biologically, vein walls become thinner as we age.

Regular sun exposure speeds up the ageing effect on your skin. The UV rays of the sun promote burnt and dry skin. Moreover it is a predisposing factor for carcinoma of the epidermis. You should therefore wear suntan lotion when out.

There is no absolute process to stop the the natural process of getting older, but there are efficient and simple ways in which we can do to forestall the appearance of the visible signals of skin aging.
