High blood pressure or hypertension occurs when the pressure of the blood in the arteries rapidly increases to high levels and stays high. It has been labeled as the silent killer because a third of all the people living with the ailment do not realize that they have it until it has caused damage to organs such as the heart, kidney, blood vessels as well as other organs in the body. High blood pressure is considered a silent killer because it has no noticeable symptoms special to it. In fact, most of the symptoms associated with HBP are also associated with other ailments. Severe and constant headaches are a strong indication of a rising blood pressure. Headaches are associated with many other ailments although a high blood pressure headache is throbbing and very severe. If you are constantly getting severe headaches, it could be an indication that your blood pressure is rising and you should seek medical attention promptly.

Feeling overly tired and confused is also another symptom of high blood pressure in women. Fatigue comes from the heart overworking itself to pump blood into your vessels, which might lead to confusion. A number of other ailments might also cause fatigue. However, if you feel constantly fatigued and confused, it is a strong indication that you are developing HBP.

The eyes get their blood supply from millions of very tiny arteries. When you are developing high blood pressure, you might suffer from vision impairment as the blood pressure in the tiny vessels cause them to expand. When you are suffering from vision impairment and you are sure it is not because of any other eye related disease, it is advised that you consult your physician or check your blood pressure.

This is because as the blood pressure rises, the veins/arteries in these areas expand to accommodate the pressure. This in turn can make your heart and chest pound harder and faster.

A significant characteristic of hypertension in women is when you start noticing that there are spots of blood in your urine. This happens when the initial signs and symptoms of HBP go without treatment. The blood traces within the urine is a sign that hypertension has started harming body organs. You should seek medical attention immediately.

A normal person is supposed to have 72 heartbeats per minute. High blood pressure causes the heartbeats to be irregular such that instead of your heartbeats being 72 they are rapidly rising and falling. This is a clear symptom of high blood pressure in women, regular checkup should be sufficient to indicate whether you have erratic heartbeats.

Pain in the chest and difficulty in breathing are also symptoms of an increase in blood pressure. Chest pains occur when the heart rate increases and difficult breathing is because of oxygen starvation in the heart. It is important to seek immediate medical attention when this happens.
